Who is Dj West. C?

DJ West. C is me man. An aspiring DJ with hopes of making it big.

How would you describe your DJn style?

My style I would say is somewhat different. A lot of DJs from different parts of the states mainly focus on their area of music. I fuck wit every type of music man. That East Coast shit, Midwest, Crunk, and of course, that shit from the Yay to LA! I mix all of it. Im a DJ from the West Coast, but I show love to everybody.

Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up and what are you presently involved in?

I grew up in Bakersfield, CA man. Not a huge or well known city. When most people hear about my city they think its country and shit. Its a pretty big city to tell you the truth, and it has a huge Hip-Hop culture. But Ill put it on the map. And as far as right now, Im just working and trying to get my street grind on at the same time. Im just messing with mixtapes and a couple other projects here and there. Got a crew I fuck with called the Grind Squad. They are my people. They hold me down, and I hold them down. Were all still in the streets trying to come up. Im also affiliated with Future Star Music Group, and work with Pyrofanatiks from time to time.

Hows the Love in Cali for ya?

I really couldnt say. I mean I know a lot of people like what I do, but a lot of people hate as well. I mean, they dont hate because theyre not me, but because they see somebody from their area making moves and its not them or one of there homies you know? I know everybody that hears my shit, loves it. But my own local radio stations, dont show me love. They dont think Im shit, but its koo. Theyll see soon enough. And as far as how people feel about me as a person? I dont know, and I could give a fuck less. Im me.

How do you choose what tracks will be featured on your tapes?

How hot they are man! Of course you gotta get all the top headliners that everybody likes, but at the same time, I like giving the underground artists a chance to shine as well. And a lot of them have dope ass production!

What is the process from beginning to end for you creating a mixtape?

Man it depends. If its a blend? It takes getting all the tracks gathered up. Lining them up as far as speed and sound. Mixing, effecting, and doing crazy ass sounding, original shit man. If you hear one of my mixes, youll be amazed! But if its a street mixtape? Man, I just get some dope tracks, and throw em in anywhere. Get some sound effects and you got a hot tape! If your resources are on point of course! But truthfully, I get tired of my mixtapes man. Hearing the same shit over and over.

Now everyones got their own knida signature style what is yours?

Hahaha, man anybody could tell you. I got a couple lil tags I throw in. I got this High Volume tag I throw in to rep my High Volume Ent, and my High Volume mixtapes. I also got a lil noise that I cant explain. Its just a little cartoon sounding noise. And last but not least, my homie Big Ben! He provides that West. C laugh man. And honestly, I think that that is the best tag that any DJ has. MINE! So dont bite off it!

 

 

How do you say you can support yourself as a DJ is it all life of the riches or are you still grinding?

Man Im still grinding. Losing money like a muther fucker, but its koo tho man. I love doing it for the exposure, and for the music. I love letting people see what Im about.

Would you consider doing any other style of music other than Hip-Hop & RnB?

I dunno man. Theres not much else I listen to. So Im not sure if Id actually stay interested.

How hard is the road out there for Mixtape DJs?

Truthfully man. I think it just depends on your grind and how hard you push it. If you got connects and sponsors and shit like that, your road is going to be a lot easier compared to somebody thats starting from scratch. And thats how I am. I started from scratch and have only been doing it for a little over a year. Im just now, starting to really get knee deep in this shit and come across some good things.

Whats the Deal with the Future Star DJs Situation?

Thats my new shit man! Future Star DJs is a new DJ pool started from Future Star Music Group, who I am also affiliated with. Its just like a Core DJs or Bumsquad DJs type crew. Right now, I believe there have only been 10 selected around the US. And Im one of them. So, we gonna make some noise!

Where can you see yourself going in the game in the future?

Big places man. You know of course hoping to one day be signed to a record label, but if not, just being around and in the game you know? Still doing my thing and enjoying it. Of course, more money! And hopefully becoming a headliner DJ.

What Other DJs out there are you feeling at the moment?

Aww, grips dude. So many have been an inspiration to me. F Sharp, Whoo Kid, Drama, Big Mike, Smallz, Kay Slay, Clue, I could go on and on man. Ive studied those dudes mixtapes man, and Ive learned a lot, and at the same time, came up with my own unique style.

What CD is chillin in your deck at the moment?

Godfather Burried Alive from Shyne! New York is going to go nuts when he gets out! His lyrics are crazy man

Favourite Mixtape from another Mixtape DJ?

I would have to say DJ Dramas Gangsta Grillz and DJ Smallzs Southern Smoke. They got that fire man! Fire fer-fire man!

Favourite Mixtape Cover?

I really like my Blended v3 and High Volume Pt 1. Thanks to Blaq! But as far as other DJs, I really like Sparks Designs work, Bullet Proof Graphx designs, and Miami Kaos! I cant afford them yet tho! Hahaha

Which is the next artist You Feel Is The Next 2 Blow?

There are a lot of artists I feel are going to blow up. Theres just too many different audiences that there are to please. My guess would be somebody from the Bay.
